Fox 40 International Announces Sale of Protex Division
For Immediate Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (April 22, 2008) — Fox 40 International, is announcing the sale of its Protex product division to PTX Performance Products Inc. Fred Nykamp new owner of the Protex business and President of PTX Performance Products Inc, will continue to manufacture and distribute the complete Protex & PTX athletic supports and accessories geared to team sport retailers.
The sale is effective immediately however both companies will continue to work together for the foreseeable future to effectively transition the business and ensure all servicing and support to customers is provided.
Protex is one of Canada's oldest and most established sports product brands beginning in Guelph in 1927, more than 80 years ago. "One can safely say that the original Protex founders, Jack and John Cartledge were in fact the inventors of the original jock strap dating to the 1920's," said Fred Nykamp new owner of the Protex/PTX division. "It's quite remarkable when going through all of the archives to discover how far back the original Canadian invention was, Protex was essentially the original product." This is a very exciting fact and we are committed to continuing that heritage of quality made products at competitive prices.
It is important to Fox 40 and PTX Performance Inc. that we continue to grow and drive sales of the current Protex division which includes a broad range of athletic supports with and without cups or pelvic protectors for women as well a complete range of products for children and youth. Along with the TPS licensed product line of athletic support products, The Lock specialty short program featuring patented new athletic support system and Body Armour protective apparel and accessories.
Dave Foxcroft, Executive Vice President / COO of Fox 40 International said, "Fox 40 is pleased to have made a transaction involving the sale of Protex to a company with the experience Fred Nykamp brings to the business and we wish to thank all of our customers and vendors for their support in helping us build the Protex brand over the years. We look forward to seeing further growth, even more focus and positive development for Protex and the family of products in the business, well into the future."
PTX Performance Products will operate the Protex business from the former facilities of Fox 40 International, at 20 Warrington St, Hamilton, Ontario, until further notice.
