Pink Whistles for Cancer

Here is a picture of our group at a meeting on November 2 with our pink whistles. Everyone in the group participated and the teams, coaches and even fans commented on our committment to raising awareness for breast cancer during the month of October. We actually raised over $400 to send to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Thanks for making pink whistles available!

Make a Difference, "Officials versus Cancer"

Where can an official help fight cancer?

On the basketball court. This year, IAABO is joined forces with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society during the "Coaches vs. Cancer" crusade. Officials did their part to blow the whistle on this disease which affects too many people. To help, they each donated up to 25% of a game fee to the worthy cause. During the week of January 26 - February 1, 2009, participating officials displayed their committment to the campaign by using a white or pink whistle that was provided to him/her once a contribution to the crusade had been made. They helped IAABO show the athletic community their determination for this cause.
