Fox 40 Play Fair Award

Fox 40 Play Fair Award is presented to an official who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment as an active volunteer in amateur sport over an extended period of time in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They have also displayed tremendous dedication to the principles of fair play and played a leadership role in the development of sports officials.

Maureen and Gerry Thomas


The husband and wife team of Maureen and Gerry Thomas (Gerry – posthumously) were deserving recipients of the Ron Foxcroft Fair Play Award. For more than 40 years the Thomas' have dedicated their lives to officiating at swim meets at the local, national and international level. "The highlight of a very active career for Gerry was being selected as starter for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics," said his wife Maureen. "He was particularly pleased to start Mark Tewksbury's gold medal win in the 200m backstroke."
